Summerhays Music of Orem is the largest independent Music Retailer in Utah County, servicing from Eagle Mountain, down to St. George. A full-service shop, including a repair shop, recital hall, and teaching studio, Summerhays focuses on band and orchestra instruments and accessories. Summerhays Music of Orem is the only local music retailer to carry a comprehensive range of student, step-up, and professional instruments, including purchase and rental options.
Although instrument sales and rentals are core to our business, our mission is to support musicians and music educators. We achieve these goals by hosting over 200 local educational events and clinics each year, as well as offering the most flexible rental contract for student instruments, so that anyone can have the equipment they need to succeed in band or orchestra. We also work directly with over 100 local band and orchestra programs, to best support their programs and meet their needs.

Educational Sales Representative

Role Description
Educational Sales Representatives travel within an assigned sales territory to forge strong, positive relationships with music educators and school administrators to generate outside sales and rentals. They also service the needs of music educators by delivering products, picking up/dropping off instrument repairs, helping with recruitment efforts, and other activities.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out strategy and brand goal directives of SMC

Develop professional relationships with band and orchestra teachers from public and private schools

Provide the best customer service to educators to meet and increase rental/sales goals
-
Visit schools, school teachers, and administrators on a regular schedule
-
Deliver purchased goods to schools
-
Pick up, track, and drop off instrument repairs
-
Set up and attend rental night events with educators
-
Schedule in-school instrument demonstrations and presentations
-
Visit authorized Summerhays sub-dealers and verify inventory
-
Send daily reports on business activities
-
Attend conferences, trade shows, and other community events

Develop and maintain productive, effective, and professional relationships with retail store sales staff and management

Stay current on industry trends and products

Maintain company vehicle

Ideal Candidates Are:

Passionate about music and have a degree in music performance, music education, or commercial music (preferred, but not required)
-
Proficient at playing a woodwind, brass, percussion, or orchestral string instrument
-
Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
-
Detail-oriented and organized
-
Comfortable presenting products/information to large groups
-
Friendly, personable, and able to develop and foster positive relationships in the music community

Requirements:

2-3 years of retail or sales experience (preferred)

Ability to travel throughout Utah County and surrounding areas

Ability to work some late-night events

Ability to work during school hours with some flexibility

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Able to lift and carry boxes and instruments of all weights and sizes

String Sales Specialist

Role Description
Summerhays Music Of Orem is looking for a full-time Strings Sales Specialist to promote and sell String instruments and related accessories. The successful candidate will assist customers in selecting the appropriate instrument, explain the features of each instrument and accessories, and provide demonstrations. The Strings Sales Specialist will also be responsible for processing customer transactions, maintaining the store's inventory, and completing other duties as assigned. This is an on-site role located in Orem, UT.

Qualifications

Prior experience in playing an orchestral string instrument is required

String Repair Technician/Luthier

Summerhays Music of Orem is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented String Repair Technician/Luthier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in evaluating, repairing, and maintaining string instruments. This role involves repairing instruments for in-store customers and local schools, along with setting up and maintaining company-owned instruments to ensure they are in optimal playing condition.

Evaluate and repair orchestral string instruments brought in by customers.

Perform regular maintenance and repair on company-owned rental instruments to keep them in excellent condition.

Inspect and set up new instruments for store stock, ensuring they meet quality standards before being sold.

Maintain company equipment and workspace in good order, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with customers about their repair needs and offering professional advice.
